Aerogel Coating Application Guide
Precautions
To prevent water penetration into wooden substrates, the base surface must be treated with a wood sealing coating.
For concrete substrates with unevenness, dusting, or peeling caused by partial repairs, use a cement surface hardener for treatment.
For highly absorbent substrates such as aerated concrete, treat with a multi-purpose sealing coating.
To prevent cracking and uneven water absorption at the joints of gypsum board, asbestos board, etc., pre-treat the substrate.
For metal substrates such as thin steel plates and iron plates, use Lima Ke A (or "Rimak A") for anti-rust treatment.
Additional Notes
The substrate must be dry, flat, solid, clean, and free of dust or loose powder.
Prepare sufficient coating material (approx. 1–2 liters per square meter). Sufficient quantity results in a thicker, more effective film. Apply multiple thin coats.
Application is not recommended during condensation. The coating is water-based and water-soluble before curing, so it will not dry properly.
During Construction
When roller-applying, each coat must be no thicker than 1 mm. Apply the next coat only after the previous one has fully cured and dried. Repeat until the total thickness reaches 1–2 mm.
The coating must be thoroughly mixed. For large buckets, use an electric mixer for 3–5 minutes, mixing all the way to the bottom. Do not add water. The special basement anti-condensation coating is thick yet fluid when properly mixed.
If color adjustment is needed, add a small amount of water-based colorant. This will not affect the anti-condensation performance.
After Construction
After application, ensure natural ventilation. In high-humidity conditions, use a dehumidifier to speed up curing for better results.
Store at room temperature, away from light. Do not freeze or expose to direct sunlight. After use, tightly seal the container to prevent the material from drying out and curing inside.
The special basement anti-condensation coating has a surface drying time of 4 hours and a full curing time of 24 hours. Allow adequate drying time.
