Aerogel Insulation Felt for Pipeline Equipment Applications

Aerogel Blanket Composite Insulation

Composite insulation structures made of aerogel and aluminum silicate can reduce heat loss in pipelines, save energy, reduce coal consumption, reduce emissions of waste gas, waste, and wastewater, lower treatment costs, and have a smaller impact on the surrounding environment. Carbon, as a tradable commodity, can reduce carbon emission costs.

Why Choose Aerogel Insulation for Steam Pipelines
Advanced aerogel insulation materials provide superior thermal performance for high-temperature steam pipeline systems, helping industrial operators reduce energy loss, improve safety, and minimize long-term maintenance costs in demanding environments.
Lower Heat Loss
Aerogel delivers ultra-low thermal conductivity, significantly reducing energy consumption compared to conventional insulation materials.
Space Saving
Thinner insulation layers achieve the same or better performance, ideal for tight pipeline layouts or retrofit projects.
Moisture Resistance
Hydrophobic properties help prevent corrosion under insulation (CUI), extending pipeline lifespan.

Key Considerations for Steam Pipeline Insulation Buyers
Selecting the right insulation material for steam pipelines involves balancing thermal efficiency, durability, installation complexity, and long-term operational cost.
  • Thermal conductivity performance at high temperatures
  • Required insulation thickness and space limitations
  • Resistance to moisture and corrosion under insulation
  • Installation time and labor cost
  • Lifecycle cost compared to traditional materials

 Typical Application Parts and Scenarios

Aerogel insulation felt has a wide range of applications in pipeline equipment, covering various specific scenarios: including pipelines with low temperature drop requirements in thermal network projects of power plants and municipal supporting facilities; pipelines with small or unstable flow but high requirements for temperature drop control; scenarios with small spacing between equipment or pipelines (e.g., long-distance central heating, heavy oil steam injection pipelines, pipe supports, etc.); high-temperature pipelines between power plant components such as boilers and turbines; pipelines and equipment with limited insulation space; projects with high waterproofing requirements; directly buried steam pipes; scenarios where pipe gallery leasing is required with high costs; and pipeline equipment with minimal heat loss requirements (e.g., high-temperature pipelines and devices in oil refining and chemical industries, composite insulation for industrial furnaces, tower/trough-type photothermal and photovoltaic projects, LNG receiving terminals, etc.).

Key Problems Solved

Silica Aerogel Insulation Blanket provides effective solutions for pain points in the application of pipeline equipment: it can solve issues of surface overheating and reduce heat loss in pipelines (especially suitable for renovation projects); address settlement issues and waterproofing difficulties of traditional materials; meet insulation needs in special environments such as high temperatures and limited spaces; reduce heat loss in thermal networks and industrial pipelines, ensure operational efficiency under conditions with strict temperature drop requirements and unstable flow, and simultaneously adapt to the needs for space-saving and energy efficiency when pipe gallery leasing costs are high.

Aerogel Insulation Blanket Application

Industrial field: used for heat insulation of industrial pipelines, storage tanks and high-temperature equipment to reduce energy consumption. For example, in the petrochemical industry, it stabilizes the temperature of pipeline media, blocks high-temperature radiation of equipment, and ensures the safety of personnel.
Special field: used for thermal protection of spacecraft in aerospace to resist extreme temperature differences; in cold chain transportation, it is used to insulate the carriage, reflect heat, maintain low temperature and maintain the quality of goods.

FAQ

1: Do you provide customized services?
We support full-process customized services. We can adjust the aerogel density, infrared reflectivity, blanket thickness (3-50mm optional), and surface protection layer material (aluminum foil, fiberglass cloth, etc.) according to customer needs. We can provide samples in as fast as 7 working days to meet the differentiated needs of different industries.

2: How much is the thermal insulation effect of the aerogel blanket combined with infrared reflection technology compared with traditional materials?
Through the double insulation mechanism, the comprehensive thermal insulation efficiency of the product is more than 50% higher than that of traditional thermal insulation materials. The thermal conductivity of aerogel as low as 0.013W/(m·K) blocks conductive heat, and the infrared reflection layer can reflect more than 92% of infrared radiation heat. In industrial pipeline applications, heat loss can be reduced by 40%-60%.

3: Can the product adapt to complex installation environments?
The aerogel blanket is flexible and can easily wrap special-shaped pipes, valves and curved equipment, with a minimum bending radius of only 5cm. With customized installation accessories, it supports on-site cutting and splicing, and the construction efficiency is 3 times higher than that of hard insulation materials, which greatly reduces labor costs.

4: How long is the service life of the product? Is it weather-resistant?
The service life of the product can reach more than 15 years under normal working conditions. It adopts nano-aerogel and high-strength inorganic fiber composite, has IP67 waterproof and dustproof performance, withstands extreme temperature differences from -196℃ to 650℃, and maintains stable performance in harsh environments such as coastal high salt fog and desert strong wind and sand.

5: What is the fire protection level of the product? Is it environmentally friendly?
The product has passed the A1 non-combustible certification, and it will not melt or release harmful gases when exposed to open flames. The production process uses environmentally friendly adhesives, does not contain harmful substances such as formaldehyde and asbestos, complies with EU REACH standards, and can provide third-party test reports.
