Aerogel Insulation Coating For Storage Tanks Features
No Scaffolding, No Massive Labor Bills
Instead of spending weeks building metal scaffolding around a 50-meter tank to wrap it by hand, a two-man crew with an airless sprayer can coat the whole thing from a cherry picker or basket in a fraction of the time.
Zero Space For Hidden Rust
Traditional insulation blankets leave a small gap between the insulation and the steel wall. Water gets trapped in there, causing hidden rust (Corrosion Under Insulation, or CUI) that eats through your tank. This coating sticks directly to the metal like glue-there is literally no space for water to hide.
It Handles The Tank "breathing" Without Cracking
Storage tanks expand slightly when they are full or hot, and shrink when they are empty or cold. Standard rigid coatings crack under that stress. This aerogel coating stays flexible enough to stretch and contract with the tank walls without flaking off.
Stops Condensation And Ice Buildup Instantly
If you are storing cold liquids, tanks sweat or freeze up on the outside, which ruins structural integrity. A clean layer of this coating acts as a thermal break, keeping the outside skin dry and stopping ice or moisture from forming.

Step 1: Surface Prep
Clean the tank wall thoroughly. Wash away any salt crust, oil, grease, or peeling old paint. If you are dealing with raw carbon steel, apply a quality industrial anti-corrosion primer first and let it cure completely.
Step 2: Set Up Your Gear
Grab a heavy-duty airless paint sprayer. Pull out all the internal fine mesh filters from the machine and the gun so the aerogel chunks don't clog them up. Put on a wide tip (around 0.027" to 0.031") so you can cover large tank panels quickly.
Step 3: Spraying the Layers
Give the bucket a slow stir to make sure it's even. Don't use a high-speed mixer. Spray the first pass at about 1mm wet thickness. Let it dry for 4 to 6 hours before spraying the next layer. Keep going until you hit the thickness your project requires.
Step 4: Add the Weather Topcoat
Since storage tanks live outside in the sun, wind, and rain, you need to seal the deal. Once your final aerogel layer is dry, spray on a durable, UV-resistant polyurethane or acrylic topcoat to protect the insulation from the weather long-term.
We know tank logistics: We don't just sell paint. We understand batch consistency. If you need 5,000 liters for a massive tank farm project, every single bucket will have the exact same thickness, viscosity, and thermal performance.
True factory-direct pricing: We make the aerogel and we mix the coating ourselves under one roof. There are no trading companies or distributors taking a cut, which keeps your material cost per square meter as low as possible.
Realistic coverage calculations: We don't give you fake lab numbers. We give you real-world coverage data that accounts for wind overspray and tank geometry, so you don't run out of material halfway through the job.
Smooth shipping paperwork: We supply full SDS, COA, and non-hazardous shipping certificates. Your containers won't get stuck at the port or delayed by customs inspectors who don't know what aerogel is.

FAQ
1.How many layers do we need to spray on a standard chemical tank?
For basic solar heat reflection and stopping condensation, 2 to 3 layers (giving you around 2mm to 3mm of dry thickness) usually does the trick. If you are storing hot oil or bitumen and need serious heat retention, you might need to go up to 5mm or 6mm.
2.Can we spray this while the storage tank is actively in use?
Yes, but within reason. If the tank wall is extremely hot (over $60^\circ\text{C}$), the water in the coating will evaporate too fast and cause bubbles. It is best to apply it when the tank is empty, during a maintenance shutdown, or when the external skin temperature is relatively mild.
3.What happens if a worker bangs a ladder or tool against the coated tank?
The cured coating is rubbery and resilient, so it shrugs off minor bumps and flexes without a issue. However, if a sharp object gouges right through the coating down to the bare metal, you can easily patch it by brushing a bit of liquid coating directly over the scratch.
